Task Observer

A skill is a set of saved instructions your assistant loads for a particular job. Writing one takes effort, and once written it never learns from how you actually use it. Task Observer runs alongside your work watching for two things: corrections you keep making, which point at a skill that is unclear, and jobs you keep doing by hand, which point at a skill that does not exist yet. It logs what it noticed and suggests specific changes. It never edits your skills itself, so you decide what to keep.

Once you have built a few skills and keep correcting the same things. The author is upfront that the payoff grows with the size of your collection, so with two or three skills, editing them directly is still quicker.

1. On the project page linked in the sidebar, use GitHub's green Code button and choose Download ZIP, then unzip it.
2. Put the folder where your assistant keeps its skills. For Claude Code that is the .claude/skills folder, and folders whose name starts with a dot are hidden: on a Mac, press Cmd+Shift+. in Finder to show them, or use Finder's Go to Folder. The guide on that page covers other assistants.
3. Work as normal, then read the observations it logs and apply the ones you agree with.
